DEI Banner
  • The District is committed to creating welcoming school communities for our students and their families.  Such a commitment requires the assurance of equitable access for all students to all opportunities regardless of their identity, race, economic status, ability, etc.

To achieve such a goal, we must always assess our own readiness to deliver instruction and services that is reflective of our community and prepare our students for a global society.  Further, we need to evaluate our programs, practices and policies to ensure no obstacles will interfere.

In this spirit, the District has engaged in a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiative that has been widely supported by the Board of Education, PTSA, IEF and administrators, faculty and staff.  All aspects of this work is closely aligned with the District’s Theories of Action as illustrated by Theory #2.

The CR-SE framework developed by NYS is utilized as a foundation for the work that the district is engaged in.

    Theory of Action 2

If we value and foster the professional learning and growth of all members of our school community, then we will build our collective capacity to support student success.

    Goal

In order to build our collective capacity to support student success, the Irvington School District will:

    • engage all members of our school community in the process of continuous improvement through the articulation of District goals
    • involve all members of the school community in learning and developing the knowledge and skills to support student success
    • provide educators with professional learning designed to support student growth
    • provide all staff with professional learning to develop the skills necessary to meet District needs.
