Accessibility
-
It is the goal of the Irvington Union Free School District to ensure that content on our website is accessible to all individuals. Efforts have been made to ensure that our website complies with New York State standards on website accessiblity. If the format of any material on the District's current website interferes with your ability to access information and you require an accommodation, please contact webmaster@irvingtonschools.org. Please provide detailed information on the location of the page or document you were attempting to access. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number so that we may contact you to provide the information in another format.
As part of the Irvington Union Free School District's commitment to website accessiblity, the District will be implementing the Blackboard Ally service during the fall of 2018. This tool will automatically check for accessibility issues and generate alternative accessible formats using advanced machine learning algorithms. It will also provide us with reports and information on content accessibiliy throughout our site, which will drive further improvements and allow for prioritzation of resources. We are also continuing to work to ensure that legacy content posted on our site also meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
The majority of pages in our site are available in HTML format that can be deciphered by screen readers. Some documents are in Adobe PDF format, which require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it for free from the Adobe website. Some features on this site may require the Adobe Flash Player to view. If you don’t have the Adobe Flash Player, please visit the Adobe website to download it: Download Adobe Reader

Site Usability
-
The District's website contains features that were the result of community focus groups and feedback. These features are specifically designed to enhance the website experience for all of our community members. Here is some additional information on some of the unique features of our site.
__________________________________________________Top Menus - On the top of our site, you will find links to each of our schools under the 'our schools' drop-down menu. Additionally, you will find a translate feature that will allow our site to be translated into numerous other languagues. Finally, under the 'popular links' menu you will find a rotating selection of timely resources designed to ensure that community members always have easy access to the critical resources being shared by our District at any given time.
__________________________________________________Channel Bar and Audience Links - Below our top menus, you will find two sets of resources. Our audience links include resources for staff and community members. On the contact page, you can find contact email addresses based on topic as well as directions to each of the Irvington UFSD locations. This page provides information on website accessibility and an explanation of some of our site features. Below the four audience links, you will find the channel bar. The contents of the channel bar vary by school page but it contains the key categories of information for each site. One particularly useful function of our channel bar is that it will stick to the top of your screen as you scroll down allowing for easy site navigation at all times.
__________________________________________________Multimedia Rotator and News Highlights - One of the biggest requested features for our new website was the presence of more feature articles highlighting the amazing stories of our students. On the homepages for our District and school sites, you will now find an up-to-date rotating selection of those stories, highlighting the accomplishments and learning experiences occuring throughout the Irvington UFSD. Just to the right of that, you will find important news stories that have been pinned for your convenience to ensure that the most pertinent information is available and easy to access for all of our stakeholders.
__________________________________________________Global Icons - Based on feedback from our focus groups, we identified the eight items that were most frequently being sought after on our school website. To ensure that these items were readily accessible from all of our pages, we created global icons. These icons make it easy to access the most commonly referenced information with relative ease.
