Irvington Middle School eighth-graders celebrated the culmination of their hard work over the last three years with a special moving up ceremony on June 20. They will embark on the next phase of their educational journey as high school freshmen in the fall.
Welcome to Irvington Middle School! Located on a campus that is shared with Irvington High School, our school is focused on addressing the needs of the whole child – academic, social, emotional, and physical. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment that is focused on the needs of early adolescent learners.
Students at IMS engage with a challenging course of study with a particular focus on developing sound habits that will support them in their growth as learners and involved citizens. Our curriculum is focused on teaching students to engage deeply with relevant content and to build their skills as flexible thinkers, problem solvers, and effective communicators. Included in our program are acceleration opportunities in the areas of Mathematics, Science, World Language, and Art, as well as a wide range of supports to assist students in becoming successful, self-reliant young adults.
Beyond the classroom, IMS offers a rich mix of extracurricular experiences that include clubs, athletics, and service opportunities. Our students participate in a multitude of clubs and play a leadership role in our school through our Student Council. Some of these clubs include Midnight Run, French Club, IMS Yearbook, and Drama Club. Athletically, students have the option of participating on one or more of our Modified Sports teams, as well as being a part of our Intramural program. One of the highlights of the IMS experience is our annual 8th grade trip to Washington, DC.
We are proud of our school and the positive environment that we strive to create. We look forward to talking with you about any areas of interest that you may have in our school.
