Senior Awards 2020 - 4/21/2020

Dear Seniors and Families,
Below is a list of scholarships that seniors will be awarded to the Class of 2020, including the criteria for each.
Here are the steps to apply for one or more of these scholarships:
• Join the Scholarship Awards 2020 class page on Google Classroom with class code o4ij3hk. All information will be posted through the classroom page.
• Seniors who are interested in applying for one or more of the awards should apply with the following:• An essay of no more than 250 words answering the following: What qualities have you demonstrated that make you a candidate for this award?
• An essay should be submitted for each scholarship; if one essay can be used for multiple awards, feel free to submit the same essay for each.
• At the top of each essay, please include your name and the award title. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted nor considered.• All scholarship applications are due in GOOGLE CLASSROOM by
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 2020, 11:59pm• Emailed applications will NOT be accepted.
• Late submissions will NOT be accepted.If you have any questions, please email Ms. Ippolito at Julie.ippolito@irvingtonschools.org.

Frances Herms Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who has displayed a passion for learning through academic participation, in addition to school and community activities. The recipient shows kindness to others and a drive to succeed.
Richard Hajek Scholarship - Awarded to a deserving graduating senior who sets standards of personal excellence, makes decisions in a principled manner and is pursuing a career in education.
Andy Huzinec Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who exemplifies resilience in his/her ability to not let problems defeat him/her, is sensitive to others, and has a strong sense of independence.
Donald Robert Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who displays ability in and the enthusiasm for mathematics.
Tamawa Yoshida Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who shows a genuine love of music as well as the desire to see music used as a uniting force between people, have inherent a selfless desire to help other students to create a positive and encouraging musical environment, and demonstrate an excellent natural vocal ability.
Paul Cocozza II Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who fought with courage to overcome educational and life challenges.
Chris Massa Scholarship - Awarded to a deserving graduating senior based on his/her involvement in the theater program. The student has demonstrated a love of the performing arts, people and self-expression.
Kathleen Downey Scholarship - Awarded to a deserving graduating senior intending to pursue a career in nursing. This student has displayed compassion and care for others.
Larry Corio Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior intending to pursue a career in education. This student is one who displays a passion in and dedication to an area of interest.
Jessie Ian Scholarship - Awarded to a deserving graduating senior who is kind and caring and is intending to pursue a career in nursing. *An interview may be part of this award.Scott Mosenthal Scholarship - Awarded to a deserving graduating senior who supports building school community and spirit.
Frank McShane Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who has exhibited courage, distinction of character, excellence of mind and maturity.
James Maddaloni Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who has studied a foreign language and shown superior academic performance in that language. This student also shows concern for others and participates in school activities.
Clyde Soravilla Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who has exhibited outstanding attitude, sportsmanship in the game of soccer and who plans to continue his/her education.
Richard Philips Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates dedication to community service, good citizenship, compassion, honesty and selflessness, as well as strong efforts in academic areas
