Dear Rising Juniors and Families,
There are a number of ways students are leaders at and beyond IHS. Some students serve as club officers, leaders in community organizations, captains of athletic teams, Student Council representatives, and much more. Student leaders are also around us every day in our classrooms, hallways and shared spaces!
In recognition of this, the purpose of this email is to share an additional leadership opportunity you will have as a junior: serving as a Peer Leader or as a Character Building Facilitator (CBF). These opportunities are for any junior who already demonstrates leadership skills or for a junior who has aspirations to develop leadership skills.
Character Building Facilitation (CBF) - In this leadership role, students will collaborate with middle school staff to work with middle school students grades 6-8 to design instructional activities inspired by the Irvington School District Character Building Framework. You can earn up to 120 hours of Community Service.
Attached you will find the IHS Leadership Benefits/Rewards and Selection Criteria. Additionally, to complete this application, you must fill out the attached Leadership Application questions.
Please type your answers to the questions, sign and submit your completed application by Friday, April 17. Email all required materials to :
If you have any questions related to the application, please contact Mr. Samuelson.
The Committee Selection Process for CBF will include administration and advisor review of completed applications and teacher recommendation (which you do not have to get, advisors will elicit teacher feedback).
Notification regarding status as a CBF for next year will be communicated in early June.
We look forward to reading your applications and wish you all the best for your leadership endeavors!
Many thanks,
Juliet
