Nicole Santariga’s kindergarten classroom is buzzing first thing in the morning when students work on phonemic awareness, phonological awareness and number sense through paper practice, as well as speaking and listening skills while they discuss their evenings and mornings with friends.
“Every day we jump right into learning with our ‘Wake Up, Warm Up!’ time,” Santariga said.
Santariga and teacher aide Mary Presta also use this time to meet with students individually or in small groups to support and enhance learning.
