Dows Lane Brings Stories to Life With Captivating Library Program

Students at Dows Lane Elementary School experienced the magic of storytelling during a special visit by performer Lee Knight, held from Oct. 21-25 in their library classes. The students were captivated by the “Folks and Fairy Tales...Where Literature Meets Music” program, which incorporated books, music and performance.

Throughout her visit, Knight read “The Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett to the kindergartners and first graders, and “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs!” by Jon Scieszka to second and third graders. After the read-aloud, the students received props, learned choreographed movements, and jumped into action by singing, dancing and acting along to original songs.

“The students were enthralled with the creativity made possible by the interactive presentation,” librarian Gina Samaniego said. “They enjoyed bringing the books to life.”
