Irvington Board of Education 2023-24 Trustee Candidates
For the 2023-2024 school year, the Irvington Board of Education has three vacant three year terms. Registered voters of the Irvington UFSD community will be asked to vote for three candidates. Below are the three community members who are running for election. Voters will also have the opportunity to write in candidates.
Jayne Wissner
Jayne Wissner has served one term on the Board of Education. Jayne has been a member of the Irvington community for 21 years. Growing up on Long Island, Jayne has lived in the New York metropolitan area her entire life. Jayne moved to Irvington with her husband and two young daughters who are both graduates of the Irvington Schools. She graduated from SUNY Stony Brook and has a Masters Degree from Hunter College. Jayne is a retired New York City schoolteacher who also worked as the union representative for her school. Jayne currently works at Literacy Volunteers teaching English to adults and is a board member of the Westchester Putnam School Board Association.
Brian Friedman
Brian Friedman has served two terms on the Board of Education and currently is President of the Board. Brian is a graduate of Irvington High School and returned to Irvington in 2005 with his wife, Amy. They have two daughters who attend Irvington schools, Emma (11th grade) and Jordan (7th grade). Brian graduated from Duke University and NYU School of Law. Brian is a lawyer and a partner in the litigation department of Rosenberg & Estis with a focus on complex commercial and employment litigation, real estate and financial services regulatory matters.
Dympna Kenny
Dympna Kenny has been a member of the Irvington Community for 9 years. Dympna and her husband, Paul, have three children who attend Irvington Schools: Conor, Ronan, and Amelia. A former scientist, Dympna has a degree from the University of Dublin, Trinity College and a PhD from the University of London, Kings College. Dympna has been involved with both the Irvington Education Foundation (IEF) as the Auction Co-Chair 2017-19 and the Irvington Parent Teacher Association (PTSA), serving as Main Street School Vice President from 2015-17 and 2018-20, Co-President in 2020-2022 and currently Ex Officio.
