Kindergartners in teachers Kimberly Damin and Leighanne Wenig’s class have been using poetry to practice sight word recognition. Through shared reading, they practiced their reading fluency as well as various decoding strategies, all of which promote strong reading habits and help the youngest learners develop into independent readers.
