Third Graders Earn Westchester County Clerk’s Distinguished Student Award
Dows Lane Elementary School third graders Evan Rhodes and Allydia Ding were awarded the Westchester County Clerk’s Distinguished Student Award during a ceremony on June 3. Joined by staff, peers and families, the two students were recognized for having shown commitment to their schoolwork, classrooms and school community.
Evan is described as a kind and thoughtful student, who works hard in school and strives to be an incredible friend to everyone.
“This award is for Evan’s academic skills and also his relationships with peers and teachers at Dows Lane,” Principal Dr. Andrea Kantor said. “He can always be counted on for a smile and kind words. Evan has a positive attitude towards learning and strives to do well in all tasks. He includes everyone and is respectful to all.”
Allydia is described as a charming and thoughtful student, who strives in her academics and excels as a friend to everyone.
“She includes others at recess both indoors and outside,” Dr. Kantor said. “She works in groups and makes sure that everyone has a turn. Allydia is a kind, respectful member of her class community. She values hard work, respect and kindness, and those character traits are exemplified in her in school every day.”
