Irvington Students Earn Awards at Prestigious WESEF
Irvington High School students who are members of the Science Research Program had an outstanding performance at the 23rd annual Regeneron Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) on March 16 at Somers High School. They were among more than 700 students from across Westchester and Putnam counties to present their research projects at the prestigious competition, which is the largest regional high school science fair in the country.
“Congratulations to our WESEF award winners and participants,” Science Research teachers Amy Ma and Nadia Parikka said. “Their hard work and dedication were on full display as they presented their research projects. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments.”
The following 18 students were recognized for their research with awards:
- Leila Fanfarillo – Honorable Mention Award in Behavioral and Social Sciences
- Sofia Garrigo – Fourth place in Biochemistry
- Stuart Graeber – Third place in Medicine and Health
- Riley Khan – Environmental Perspiration Award
- Olivia Liu – American Psychological Association Award
- Maxwell Ma – Third place in Medicine and Health
- Wyatt McInerney – Fourth place in Neuroscience
- Adan Mercado – Honorable Mention Award in Behavioral and Social Sciences
- Lucy Monness – First place in Behavior and Social Science
- Felix Nolan – Honorable Mention Award in Cellular and Molecular Biology
- Keira Nyarady – Excellence in Medical Research Award
- Nathan Okun – Honorable Mention Award in Animal Sciences
- Maren Piersol – Honorable Mention Award in Animal Sciences
- Elliot Riseman – Honorable Mention Award in Neuroscience
- Sophie Surguladze – Society for In Vitro Biology Award
- Michelle Zhou – Momentive – Solutions for a Sustainable World Award
- Scott Zinman – Third place in Medicine and Health
