Boys Cross-Country Wins Sectional Title

 

Boys Cross-Country Team Earns Sectional Championship Title

The Irvington boys cross-country team captured the Class C Sectional championship title Nov. 3. The team, which was ranked No. 11 in New York State Class C going into the race, finished ahead of Briarcliff High School, which was ranked No. 17, Dobbs Ferry High School, which was ranked No. 9, and Pleasantville High School, which was ranked No. 6.

The team placed seven runners in the top 30 of the 130 runners in the race that included Ryan Flanagan (7), Alex Bjorgvinsson (8), Ian McLure (16), Aidan McLure (18), Ronan Cypher (22), Eric Parke (26) and Henry Demarest (30). The team will now compete in the New York Public High School Athletic Association cross-country championships, which will be held Nov. 10 at Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island.

In addition, the girls cross-country team – lead by Devin Reilly, who finished 12th, and Isabella Berger, who was 30th – placed fifth in Class C.
