Irvington Students Return for First Day of 2025-2026 School Year
Students across the Irvington Union Free School District joyfully returned to school on Sept. 2, marking the start of a new academic year.
“For Irvington, the first day of school is an opportunity for the village to once again be filled with the familiar, hopeful energy of our students,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mara Ratesic said. “It’s the warm, welcoming hum of old friends reuniting, new friendships blossoming, and our shared Bulldog pride shining brightly as a new chapter begins for us all.”
At Dows Lane Elementary School and Main Street School, the students settled into their classrooms by organizing their supplies and engaging in educational activities that set a positive tone for the year ahead. For the kindergartners, the day was especially memorable as they began their school journey and met their new teachers and classmates.
At the secondary level, Irvington Middle School and Irvington High School students spent time becoming familiar with their schedules and learning about their teachers’ expectations. Sixth graders also participated in activities that were designed to support a smooth transition to middle school, helping them build confidence and routines in their new environment.
