Irvington High School junior Gabriella Brenner performed with the New York State School Music Association’s All-State Mixed Chorus at the Eastman Theater in Rochester, New York, on Dec. 3. This talented singer was among 200 students in the choir, all of whom auditioned to be part of the ensemble.
"It was so beautiful seeing students come from all across the state, representing rural, urban, suburban programs; large districts and tiny music programs; all of the students came together with one common goal – to make connections with others via music,” music teacher Stephen DiGiovanni said.
Brenner was chosen based on auditions at last spring’s NYSSMA solo evaluation festival. The highest-scoring students from across the state with the most advanced skills demonstrated at the festival were invited to participate in the All-State music ensembles.
“We are so proud of Gabriella, who has represented Irvington well, and we hope she feels as inspired by her experience as we do,” DiGiovanni said.
