Irvington Sophomores Visit Former Kindergarten Class

Irvington Sophomores Visit Former Kindergarten Class

Two sophomores from Irvington High School – Eva Dedvukaj and Maya Ljuljdjurovic – recently returned to their former kindergarten classroom at Dows Lane Elementary School to give back to their community by reading books to its youngest learners.

During their visit, Dedvukaj read “Honey” by David Ezra Stein, while Ljuljdjurovic read “The Wonderful Things You Will Be” by Emily Winfield Martin with Izabela Swiecka’s class. The two students said they were inspired to return by the lasting impact at Dows Lane. Swiecka said the visit highlighted the meaningful connection between the older and younger students while fostering a sense of community and inspiration.

“Their time, enthusiasm and kindness made a meaningful impact on our young learners,” Swiecka said. “They shared kindergarten memories, their favorite things about being high school students and their visions for the future.”

Throughout the school year, many Irvington High School students return to Dows Lane, where their educational journey first began, connecting with younger students and sharing the joy of reading together.
