Irvington Schools Welcome Students Back for the 2026-27 School Year

Excitement filled the Irvington Union Free School District as students returned for the first day of the 2026-27 school year.  

Students arrived at Dows Lane Elementary School, Main Street School, Irvington Middle School and Irvington High School ready to begin a new year of learning and growth. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mara Ratesic joined administrators and principals in greeting students outside their buildings, welcoming back returning students and helping new students begin their first day as members of the Irvington school community. 

Across the district, the first morning offered opportunities for students to reconnect with familiar faces, reunite with classmates and settle into their schools for the year ahead. 
As students begin the new school year, the district looks forward to continuing to foster the values of the Irvington Way and providing meaningful learning experiences that support the skills and attributes reflected in the Portrait of a Graduate. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to grow as learners, build connections and develop the skills that will help prepare them for their futures. 

The first day of school marks the beginning of another year filled with opportunities to learn, connect and grow. Irvington School District looks forward to a wonderful 2026-27 school year and all that its students will accomplish in the month ahead.
