Dows Lane Hosts Regional ENL Educators for Collaborative Learning

Dows Lane Hosts Regional ENL Educators for Collaborative Learning

Dows Lane Elementary School hosted the annual Regional Network of English as a New Language Teachers on March 24, welcoming educators from across the region to collaborate on best practices and discuss key issues impacting English language learners.

The session was facilitated by Irvington Union Free School District teachers Paul Manzi and Marianne Kennedy, who guided participants in sharing strategies, exchanging resources and engaging in problem-solving and idea generation.

A primary focus of the meeting was preparing for New York State’s upcoming transition from NYSESLAT and NYSITELL assessments to the World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) framework, which will be implemented over the next two school years. Additional topics included the Science of Reading, bilingual evaluation protocols during the CSE process and other emerging priorities in ENL education.
