Dear IUFSD Community,
As we shared in our February 16th communication, the IUFSD Board of Education has engaged Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), a consulting firm that specializes in assisting school boards with the consideration of candidates for superintendent, to assist in the search for our next superintendent. We have begun working with HYA to begin this process in earnest and wanted to provide the community a brief outline to the next steps in the process.
A key step in this process is to identify the characteristics we will be seeking in our new superintendent. We would greatly appreciate your input and assistance with this important task. We, therefore, invite you to participate in this process by:
- Attending an open forum
- Completing an anonymous online survey
The Open Forums, which will be facilitated by associates of HYA, will be held virtually on March 11 at 7:30 pm, March 12 at 10:00 am and March 13 at 7:30 pm. Further information about registration for the Open Forums will be provided shortly.
Please complete the online survey by March 14, 2024. The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete. All survey responses are anonymous and will be collected directly by HYA.
HYA will utilize input gathered from all stakeholders to prepare a Leadership Profile Report which will be presented at the March 19th Board meeting.
We thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts and appreciate your partnership in this important task.
Sincerely,
Brian Friedman

Dear Irvington School Community,
It is with sincere gratitude and sadness that the Board of Education recently accepted the resignation of Dr. Kristopher Harrison, effective August 8, 2024. After nearly 12 years of tireless and dedicated service as our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Harrison has made the decision to retire.
Dr. Harrison would like to make the following statement:
Dear Irvington School Community,
It has been some time since I have communicated with everyone. During this period, I have had the opportunity to reflect on what an amazing district and town Irvington truly is. Through my nearly 12 years in the District, I have gotten to know so many incredible people and witnessed, firsthand, how their gifts and talents impact the Village as a whole.
Irvington students show creativity, skill and a desire for an education in which their futures, and that of others, will benefit. Each day, amazing and talented staff members guide and shape the educational experience that is afforded to each learner. It is because of the students and the staff, that IUFSD is second to no other school district in New York.
While in Irvington, I have truly enjoyed everyone in the District and the community. It is a special place that has taught me so much as an educator, leader and person. There is no question that my days in Irvington are the highlight of my career.
Therefore, it is with great sadness that I am announcing my retirement from the District due to health reasons. This was a difficult decision on numerous levels, and while heartbreaking, there is no place I would have rather spent this portion of my career and life. I am most appreciative to everyone in the Village of Irvington for each moment we shared and the lessons learned.
To everyone, my best wishes and luck and, as always, go Bulldogs!
With great sincerity,
Dr. Kristopher Harrison
The Board wishes Dr. Harrison the very best in his future endeavors and thanks him for his service as well as his unwavering support for our students, staff and community over the years.
Sincerely,
Brian Friedman
